Excalibur 1066 Merlin
Last month I joined a Cigar Review Club at CigarBeat. The first cigar we chose to review was the Excalibur 1066 by Hoyo de Monterrey. This smoke was created to commemorate the legendary sword of King Arthur and the historic British Battle of Hasting in 1066. It took me a couple of weeks to find this cigar and finally found it at Stogies on Grand in Minneapolis. The cigar store had an outstanding atmosphere and a great selection of smokes. Unfortunately, they were priced way to high. I got raped buying my Excalibur 1066 Merlin for $8.95 which should normally cost about $5.85. Needless to say, I had to buy the Excalibur 1066 Merlin for the upcoming review at CigarBeat.
The Excalibur 1066 Merlin is made with Dominican, Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos and topped with a Cameroon wrapper. The Merlin measures 5.2 x 50 and was well constructed. It had a tight wrap, an even burn and a pleasant draw. It was painless to smoke and very enjoyable. The Merlin had a powerful spice flavor with hints of caramel. As stated, the price for these delicious smokes runs about $92.95 for a box of 20 or $4.65 a stick. At that price these smokes are well worth it. They are truly a five dollar smoke, but for eight bucks I will pass. I recommend the Excalibur 1066; it is very worthy of a try.
The Excalibur 1066 comes in the following sizes for their Cameroon line: Galahad 6.7 x 47; King Arthur 6.2 x 45; Lancelot 7.2 x 54. They also come in a Maduro line. The Dark Knight measures 5.7 x54; Dark Knight II 4.5 x 50 and the Dark Knight III at 6.5 x 52.

The Excalibur 1066 Merlin is certainly hard to find in Australia. I recently smoked one whilst in the U.S. and rate it highly! Thanks
