La Gloria Cubana Reserva Figurado
After my trip to Boston, I headed to the smoke free state of New Jersey. There I had to find a place to smoke without any hassle, so the first place I went to was the mega cigar superstore called JR Cigars. If you never have been there it is a must visit. This place is about the same size as a Kmart. As soon as you walk in, you are already in the humidor. There are boxes upon boxes of cigars stack all the way to 30 foot high ceilings. Also, in the store are several small seating areas to grab a drink and a bite to eat. This is where I spent two nights just puffing away on some fine cigars. It was very enjoyable.
The first cigar that I fired up was the La Gloria Cubana Reserva Figurado. I chose the natural Felicias which measure 4.625 x 49. It is shaped just like a Perfecto #1. A nice short smoke with a mellow kick. It was very smooth, even burn and painless draw. This little guy contains 4 year old Nicaraguan binders, Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers and a Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper. The Reserva Figurados achieve their nutty taste from a special "cedar aging" process where the cigars are aged for 3 months in specially designed cedar chest. The cigars are handcrafted by two Grade 7 Master Rollers, handpicked by Ernesto Carrillo, and then boxed aged for an additional 3 months. These cigars are available at CigarMonkey, Inc. in limited quantities for $89.99 for a box of 20.
